"We thank Rishi Jaitly for his contributions, entrepreneurship and leadership over the past four years at Twitter. He was our first person on the ground to bring Twitter into the high-growth Indian market; He has created bold, strategic partnerships to enter and grow new markets for Twitter; and has successfully built up our Media Partnerships teams across the Asia Pacific and Middle East," a Twitter India spokesperson told Mashable India.
Prior to joining Twitter in 2012, Jaitly was the director of United States-based John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. According to Jaitly’s LinkedIn profile, he was also the co-founder and CEO of Michigan Corps, a civic and social organization. More remarkably, however, Jaitly was the Head of Public-Private Partnerships at Google India for two years, where he "supported Google’s chairman and CEO on communications and special projects."
At Google, Jaitly also helped the company deal with critical government issues such as internet censorship in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He also spearheaded public-private partnerships, corporate philanthropy, public policy advocacy, and government affairs for Google across South Asia regions. Jaitly hasn’t shared what he will do next, but according to statement by Twitter India he plans to move to the United States.

"He led our efforts to make Twitter the national zeitgeist for millions of users across the Asia Pacific and Middle East, as well as the place that TV and media organizations, government agencies, sports bodies, entertainment companies and influencers go to publish their content first and engage with their audience every day, including Twitter’s first international livestreaming deal for the Melbourne Cup in Australia."
In a tweet, Jaitly thanked former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and other top executives for giving him a chance.

Jaitly's departure comes a week after Karen Stocks, the MD of Twitter Australia announced she was leaving the company. Twitter has been downsizing its global workforce. At its quarterly earnings call last week, CEO Jack Dorsey announced that the company would lay off 9 percent of its staff globally. As a part of the downsizing efforts, Twitter shut down Vine. Not long ago, Twitter had let go under 20 people from its Bengaluru developer centre, most of whom belonged to ZipDial, an Indian startup Twitter had acquired.
