Besides making lights for your yard,The Devil in Miss Jonas (Der Teufel in Miss Jonas) Philips Hue is also moving into another room -- the bathroom. Its new Adore collection is launching with two products: a mirror or a ceiling fixture.
Before you get hopes up, these are white ambient lights only, and the bulbs (or rather LEDs) in these can't be changed by the user. Philips Hue rates them each at 2,400 lumens and with an estimated lifetime of 30,000 hours.
SEE ALSO: Philips Hue brings the party outside with the Outdoor LightstripBoth models can help to solve a pain point for those who like to check themselves out before leaving for the office. Only in the Hues' case, the lights can mimic natural outdoor light fluorescent tube ones in your dank, depressing office. The mirror and ceiling fixture have settings for bright light, relaxed light, and many others. In fact, there are over 50,000 shades of white that each of these can produce.
These can handle a bit of water, and it might happen considering these are destined for the bathroom. Philips made sure these can withstand a moist environment and the occasional water splash.
The mirror itself is circular in design with a ring of light on the outside and a mirror on the inside. While other smart mirrors require a professional installation, the Adore Mirror is plug and play after you hang it.
Philips Hue's Adore ceiling fixture projects light in a glowing effect from the sides and downwards. It will sit flush with the ceiling, and unlike the mirror, some heavier installation may be necessary.
While the mirror and ceiling fixture can live in the Philips Hue app and smart home services, a wireless dimmer switch comes in the box. Consumers can customize each button on the dimmer switch via the app.
The Philips Hue Adore flushmount fixture costs $179.99, while the Adore mirror is a bit more at $249.99.
Interested consumers who want to live the connected lighting in the bathroom lifestyle won't have to wait long as these both land on Aug. 20.
