Who would have Watch Soul Onlinethought a trailer for a new Pokémon movie could be so divisive?

On Monday, the first trailer for a Ryan Reynolds-voiced Detective Pikachumovie dropped. At the time of writing the trailer has almost 12,000,000 views and over 475,000 likes on YouTube.

It hasn't all been plain sailing, though. There have been plenty of reactions on social media, and not all of them are from excited fans eager to see their favourite electric mouse fight crime.

The point of contention? Nope, it isn't the fact that Pikachu has the voice of a 42-year-old man. It's the aesthetic appearance of everyone's favourite pink puffball:

Yep: furry Jigglypuff. Here's a close-up where you can literally see the individual fur strands protruding from Jigglypuff's ears.

Quite a few people weren't big fans of Jigglypuff's new look.

In fairness, the voices haven't all been dissenting. Some people have leaped to live-action Jigglypuff's defence.

Mostly, though, people are just happy to keep cracking jokes.
