If you've recently wondered when that whole Harry Potter thing is TV Movie Archivesgoing to blow over, signs still point to Probably Never.
On Tuesday, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando opened a new ride, and wait times have anxious park attendees spending nearly all day in line.
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure takes riders into the Forbidden Forest with the Hogwarts gamekeeper himself. It's roughly a three-minute ride with people waiting hundreds of minutes to get on it.

The Universal Orlando website did caution about "high demand" for the new ride, with determined fans arriving as early as 6 a.m. to claim spots in line (the park opens at 9 a.m.).
By sunrise, the line was snaking well beyond Hogsmeade and into other parts of the sprawling Islands of Adventure. That's give-or-take a mile, a lot of it in direct sunlight.

Ohio native Brian A. told Mashable he arrived at 5:30 and knew a friend "lurking" near the entrance from 2 a.m. They got on the ride by 10 a.m., but they were among the first few hundred people in line – also known as the lucky ones.

According to the local ABC outlet, the estimated waiting time was eight hours by 8:30 a.m., and 10 hours by 10 a.m., with attendees justifiably starting to give up.

I've never been to opening day for any ride or theme park, but I've visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter numerous times and never seen anything like this. In 2010, when the entire parkwas new, wait time for the main attraction, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, was around 90 minutes. That's a cakewalk compared to a full workday's worth of standing in line, and it was still exhausting (shoutout to the water fountain that saved my life).

The Universal Orlando site also notes the option of a virtual line app to cut down on hours of standing in the sun and risking, you know, your life – but the app will only have access to the Hagrid ride starting June 14.

By 3 p.m., Orlando experienced a fairly regular afternoon storm, and the ride shut down temporarily due to weather and technical issues.

If there's one thing we know about Rubeus Hagrid from the Harry Potter books themselves, it's that he responds very poorly to high-pressure and stressful situations. The best way to solve this problem is to gently turn away, give him some space, and maybe buy him a dragon (R.I.P. WWoHP's Dragon Challenge ride).
Or to try again tomorrow.
