The Twitterverse was set aflame this afternoon with news that the company is considering creating a premium service for its power users. Fortunately, this wouldn't be some sort of Tinder Select-esque club for only the rich, beautiful and famous account holders.
Rather, the idea is to give paying users access to a host of new data and analytics tools. Think of it as a souped-up version of TweetDeck, which is a Twitter dashboard that lets you manage multiple accounts, monitor engagement and do other exciting things.
And just what will this as-of-yet unnamed premium service provide? Well, we're not exactly sure. Twitter hasn't built it yet, you see.

"We’re conducting this survey to assess the interest in a new, more enhanced version of Tweetdeck," the spokesperson explained. "We regularly conduct user research to gather feedback about people’s Twitter experience and to better inform our product investment decisions, and we're exploring several ways to make Tweetdeck even more valuable for professionals."
Some mockups and an explanatory statement did leak — giving us at least the tiniest idea as to the proposed offerings.
Twitter is considering offering an advanced TweetDeck experience, with more powerful tools to help marketers, journalists, professionals, and others in our community find out what is happening in the world quicker, to gain more insights, and see the broadest range of what people are saying on Twitter. Whether you use Twitter for work or just want to be more informed on the latest news, sports, entertainment, political viewpoints, and information in today’s world, this advanced TweetDeck experience will be designed to help you get even more out of Twitter.
This premium tool set will provide valuable viewing, posting, and signaling tools like alerts, trends and activity analysis, advanced analytics, and composing and posting tools all in one customizable dashboard.
It will be designed to make it easier than ever to keep up with multiple interests, grow your audience, and see even more great content and information in real-time.It would also offer extra features such as advanced audience insights & analytics, tools to monitor multiple timelines from multiple accounts and from multiple devices, including mobile, all in an ad-free experience.

Basically, if you want to throw down an undisclosed amount of cash, Twitter will help you parse all that wonderful data otherwise passing you by.
And while big-name brands and small producers alike would surely appreciate the additional information, it's Twitter that would appreciate the cash. As Forbesreported in February, Twitter's 2016 fourth-quarter revenue growth hit just 1 percent. Any and all extra revenue would surely be appreciated.
Maybe they can use those dollars to continue to fine tune their anti-harassment tools. Just an idea.
