Smartphone batteries are eroticize aerobicsgetting better, but they still leave a lot to be desired, with most smartphones lasting a day and a half, maybe two.
Charging tech, however, is improving fast. As noticed by The Next Web Tuesday, Xiaomi has demoed a 100W charger that can fully charge a smartphone with a hefty, 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes.
SEE ALSO: Xiaomi's beastly new gaming phone has 12GB of RAM, pressure-sensitive displayXiaomi chairman Bin Lin shared a video of the new charger doing its thing on Chinese social media site Weibo. In the (sped up) video, we see Xiaomi's 100W charger getting an unnamed, 4,000mAh battery phone to 100% in 17 minutes, while a competing 50W charger from Oppo only manages to charge a phone with a 3,700mAh battery to 65 percent in that time.
It's no coincidence that Xiaomi's made a comparison with Oppo; the Chinese company has some of the fastest charging tech I've seen. Perhaps even more impressive, Xiaomi's new charger manages to get the phone to 40% in just 5 minutes. With charging being that fast, forgetting to charge your phone becomes a minor nuisance, which you can quickly remedy while getting dressed or eating breakfast.
The technology is not available yet, but according to Redmi chief Lu Weibing, it will make it to actual phones you can buy soon.
