Movies can family Archivesteach just as well as they entertain, sometimes even in unexpected ways.
That was the message driven home by one San Diego Comic-Con attendee during the show's Halloweenpanel. He used his time at the mic during the panel Q&A to share a touching anecdote with the movie's star, Jamie Lee Curtis.
SEE ALSO: M. Night Shyamalan drops extremely creepy 'Glass' trailer at Comic-Con"I'm just really grateful for the movie Halloween, because 34 years ago it saved my life," the man, who has since been identified as Joseph Scott, said.
Scott launched into his story of the time that he dealt with a home invasion and a knife-wielding intruder of his own. While the movie's supernatural elements obviously didn't come into play there, Scott's appreciation for the horror classic led him to a single thought.
"I was scared out of my mind, and out of nowhere this thought inside of me went, 'Well what would Jamie Lee Curtis do?" So he grabbed some damaged knitting needles out of the trash and ran outside, shouting and making a scene.
"I'm a victor today instead of a victim," Scott said, fighting back tears. "You're the only reason I came to Comic-Con this year."
The crowd loved it enough to give Scott a standing ovation. The panel loved it so much that Jamie Lee Curtis stepped out into the crowd to hug her fan and exchange a few private words with him. And social media was there to document every moment of it.
