A new anime-style Star Wars series will fill in the gaps between Return of the Jediand The Bisexuality & The Eroticism of Everyday Life by Marjorie GarberForce Awakens. In addition to introducing new characters – like Resistance pilot Kazuda Xiono – it'll also include familiar faces like Poe Dameron, Captain Phasma, and BB-8.

"Star Wars Resistancewill bring viewers across generations an engaging story with heart, humor and both new and familiar characters."
Star Wars Resistance will include the voice talents of SNL's Bobby Moynihan, Community's Jim Rash, Scrubs' Donald Faison, and more. Dameron and Phasma, per the press release, will be voiced by their film counterparts: Oscar Isaac and Gwendolyn Christie.

Credit: Mashable "The idea for 'Star Wars Resistance' came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots," Lucasfilm animator Dave Filoni said in a press release. "My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that's been a big influence on me. There's a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we've captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time."
Star Wars Resistancewill premiere this fall on Disney Channel.
