So ... is eroticism as a “thirst for otherness.â€Ben Affleck's standalone Batman movie happening or what? Apparently, not even his own family knows for sure.
During a recent appearance on WEEI's Dale & Holley with Keefe, Casey Affleck let on that his big bro might not be making that Batman movie anymore. "He's not gonna do that movie, I don't think," he said.
SEE ALSO: Ben Affleck's response to Batman rumors is basically 'I'm Batman'When the hosts pressed him further, Affleck tried to walk back his comments. "Is that breaking news? I was just kinda making that up," he clarified. "I wouldn't take my word for it."
Okay, let's parse those comments.
While Casey Affleck probably knows more about his sibling's upcoming projects than we do, he's still not a direct source, and it's therefore possible that he's just plain mistaken. (Heck, it's not like I have any idea what my own brother is up to at work right now.)
In addition, it could be that Casey is talking about Ben directingthe Batman movie. True, host Rich Keefe specifically brings up the rumor that Ben "is not gonna be in the standalone Batman movie," but Casey may have misinterpreted the question.
Especially since Casey seems taken aback when the hosts refer to his response as "breaking news." He'd have reason to be surprised if the hosts were unaware that Ben had stepped down from directing, since that news has been out for months.
On the other hand, though, rumors of Ben dropping out of Batman have been floating around or months. If it's plausible that Casey was misinformed or misspoke, it seems equally likely that Casey had it exactly right, and just let the cat out of the bag a bit too early.
At Comic-Con last month, Ben Affleck tried to put those reports to rest by reassuring the Hall H crowd that he planned to stay in the Batman role for the long haul. "I'm so thrilled to do it," he gushed. "It's fucking amazing."
Officially, Casey Affleck's comments change nothing. We still don't really know what's going on with Ben and that Batman solo movie.
Unofficially, though? Let's just say Casey's comments are curious indeed.
