Hachette Book Group has officially dropped Woody Allen's memoir from its publication schedule.
The Travel Agency (2025) EP 2 Hindi Web Seriesbook was originally scheduled to hit stores in April of 2020, but due to backlash because of sexual assault allegations against Allen, the publisher will not move forward. On Thursday, dozens of Hachette employees staged a walkout to protest the decision to publish.
"Hachette Book Group has decided that it will not publish Woody Allen’s memoir Apropos of Nothing, originally scheduled for sale in April 2020, and will return all rights to the author," HBG said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Hachette reportedly had "extensive conversations" in-house and with others regarding Allen's memoir.
"The decision to cancel Mr. Allen’s book was a difficult one," the statement continues. "At HBG we take our relationships with authors very seriously, and do not cancel books lightly. We have published and will continue to publish many challenging books. As publishers, we make sure every day in our work that different voices and conflicting points of views can be heard."
Allen's next film is still scheduled to premiere in 2020.
