We're living in the future. Although they're not yet available to everyone,Farmer’s Wife: Handle with Care! Part 1: Angel Advent we do have jetpacks, self-driving cars and spaceships. So it's our right to demand gadgets that are levitating in the air for no apparent reason, right?
LG just announced one such gadget, the imaginatively named Levitating Portable Speaker (or PJ9).
SEE ALSO: The crazy reason nearly every phone in Japan is waterproofIt's a wireless, 360-degree omnidirectional speaker that flies above its station, while producing some deep tones thanks to a built-in subwoofer.
While it looks quite unassuming, the speaker has a few cool tricks up its sleeve. When its 10-hour battery is low, it automatically descends down to its station and charges wirelessly, without interrupting music playback.
It's also weatherproof (up to IPX7 specifications), and can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
The PJ9 is not the first levitating wireless speaker we've seen; in fact, there have been quite a few over the past couple of years. But this is the first time we've seen one from a major manufacturer such as LG.
LG will show the PJ9 at its booth at CES next week and Mashablewill be there to give you first listening impressions.
