After a month of hiding in the ever-expanding desert known around these parts as the Overwatchpublic test region,Peter Baumgartner Oasis has revealed itself.
The latest Overwatchmap, Oasis, a control map set in a futuristic city in the Middle East, came out in a patch Tuesday available to all players on all platforms.
SEE ALSO: The final 'Overwatch' developer update of 2016 looks at what's aheadLike the other control maps in Overwatch(Ilios, Lijiang Tower and Nepal), Oasis has three different stages on which teams battle to capture and hold a point, king of the hill style. One of the stages features a jump pad that launches heroes up onto an advantageous lookout not only over the point but also traffic on the outer edge of the map.
Traffic that kills you.

The new features are only in one of the stages, but that doesn't mean the other two maps aren't interesting. For the most part, the stages are designed for close combat, with tight hallways and narrow chokepoints, but they're paired with some tall, open spaces perfect for ranged attacks as well.
Oasis's blend of design is pretty unique compared to the other control maps in Overwatch, which have fewer paths to take to the point. This gives attacking teams more options for their assaults and forces defending teams to keep an eye on more angles than any other map.
Oasis was teased at BlizzCon in early November and released on the public test region in late November. It is the 14th map in the standard rotation.
