Why,Woman Who Does as Her Oppa Wishes Mass Effect: Andromeda? Why is Kadara spaceport the worst place in the galaxy?
The latest Mass Effectintroduces an entirely new galaxy for players to explore. There are ancient artifacts, alien wonders, and threats like you've not seen before. There are also doors. So. Many. Doors.
SEE ALSO: 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' is a forgettable, tedious trudgeNormally, that's not a big deal in a Mass Effectgame. You trot up to a door, hold down a button for the half-second it takes an "Activate" meter to full, and BOOM-- door's open.
You want examples? No problem.
Notthe spaceport; just the planet. I'll get to the spaceport in a minute:
Pretty smooth, right? The doors of Mass Effect: Andromeda, for the most part, don't merit much thought. As it should be. You're not supposed tothink about these doors; you walk up to one, press a button, it opens, you keep exploring.
Easy enough, until you get to Kadara spaceport. For whatever reason, the half-second process of opening a door takes closer to five seconds in Kadara's spaceport. Five. Seconds. It might not sound like much, but it adds up.
There are only four doors that behave this way in Kadara's spaceport, out of six. Two leading from the docking area to the port proper, one for the local bar, and one that lets you into the home/lair of the local boss-lady.
The problem is, Kadara's spaceport is a hub of sorts for your missions on the planet below. You return there frequently and can generally expect to open at least two of the Bullshit Doors on any given trip.
It's so frustrating. You're not supposed to think about the doors in this game, but Kadara spaceport forces you to do so. Every. Time. You. Visit.
Those 5-second pauses add up fast. They bring a game that already suffers from momentum issues to a crashing halt. And so, thanks to the garbage spaceport and its garbage doors, Kadara is the worst planet in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
