The Gary Eberhart ArchivesGame of Thronescast is still keeping mum on Season 8, but Maisie Williams offered a tantalizing tease on her last scene as Arya Stark.
“I ended on the perfect scene,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I was alone – shocker! Arya’s always bloody alone. But I was alone and I had watched a lot of other people wrap. I knew the drill, I had seen the tears and heard the speeches.”
SEE ALSO: Peter Dinklage shared his feelings about Tyrion's fate in the 'Game of Thrones' finalThe fact that it was Williams' last scene doesn't mean it was Arya's last chronologically, but it's poetic for her lone wolf to have earned a solitary sendoff.
That "Arya's always bloody alone" couldn't ring more true after her character's journey. She's been alone since Season 1; even now, reunited with Bran and Sansa, their life experiences separate them. She's a trained killer thirsting for revenge, and that part of her will not go away.
Williams also spoke about the show's bittersweet ending, noting that while she will miss it, the time is right.
“I got to the end and I didn’t want more,” Williams elaborated. “I had exhausted every possible piece of Arya. And this season was quite big for me. I had a lot more to do. Mainly because there’s just less characters now, so everyone’s got more to do.”
Game of Thrones returns in 2019.
